Antique RS Prussia Porcelain Relish Tray - Dresser Tray - Gorgeous - Superb Condition
ANTIQUE RS PRUSSIA PORCELAIN RELISH TRAY - DRESSER TRAY - ROSES -GORGEOUS - LATE 1800'S-EARLY 1900'S
This item is in Superb Condition for it's age. There are no cracks, chips, scratches or crazing. There is no discoloration. I have done extensive research on this piece and found it to be from the late 1800's to early 1900's. All pieces made in RS Prussia during this period were marked with a Green wreath and the Letters "RS Prussia" in red. There were no other markings on their pieces during this period and no pattern marks. Reinhold Schlegelmilch founded the company who made these pieces during the late 1800s to 1900s for export in RS Prussia which is now Suhl, Germany. Most were decorated with paintings of flowers or formal portraits, which were applied to the porcelain clay body via lithographic transfers. They were not hand painted.
This piece measures 12 1/4 inches long from left to right side and 5 3/4 inches wide across the center in diameter (from front to back). Very ornate in design it has two cut out handles on each side of the dish with a raised pattern edge. There are four circles (two on each inside edge of the dish) which also have a raised beaded pattern. In the center, there is a basket of beautiful pink, white and peach roses with greenery.
Use for a relish dish or possibly a dresser tray. Certainly would add charm to any Shabby Cottage, Romantic or Victorian Style decor. Absolutely a must-have for anyone who may collect RS Prussia items.
